Quick pic and story for the day
This picture happened today after 9 hours of orientation. We got to see the fitness center that Mayo offers to employees, but they had us use public transportation for the first time. My group asked an employee at the center, and used a map to find the bus station she told us to go to. I felt very competent and like I had figured it all out. About 6 minutes before our bus arrived, someone got a call telling us that we were at the wrong station and the last bus of the day was leaving in 6 minutes. So. About 15 of us went sprinting through the pourig rain in our business casual outfits with umbrellas that were turning inside out in the wind, crossing through the middle of busy streets, and arguing about where to go. We see the bus pull into the station as we're running up. Luckily, there were about 90 people total who had to get on the bus, so we made it in time. Then all 90 of us squashed into the bus with some very unhappy locals.
I think it's official. Everyone in the city of Rochester knows that we- the selected participants of the Summer III program- are complete ditzes who have no idea what they're doing.
